BELO BLATO

On the brim of Carska bara, 25 kilometres from Zrenjanin, in the vicinity of the rivers Tisa and Begej and their reed bays, the village Belo Blato is situated. It attracts more and more admirers of nature and ethno-tourism.

With its population of about 1100 inhabitans, Belo Blato represents a unique melting pot of nations, languages, and cultures. It’s mostly populated with Slovaks and Hungarians, but there are Bulgarians, Serbs and other nationalities, too.

Belo Blato is often referred to as the ”cradle of reed-craft“ in Serbia. More than half of the village population does jobs related to the reed production, and the produced reed goods are imported abroad.

There is also an educational ethno-centre in Belo Blato, which consists of an ethno-house with a yard, a classroom and a souvenir shop.
